SKZ (Certificate A523)

SKZ is a partner to the plastics industry, endorsing quality assurance. According to SKZ standard HR 3.32 and based on DIN EN ISO 15874, this certificate states that PP-RCT pipes from API, our manufacturing process, and our quality control scheme, all comply to the relevant national and international standards. This certification investigates the mechanical characteristics and performance of the pipes, comprising the entire PP-RCT range. Bi-annual audits and tests are performed by the SKZ laboratories in Germany- an accredited laboratory that has granted consent to test on behalf the German water and Gas authority (DVGW).

KTW certificate

Certificate indicating the hygienic assessments of organic materials that come in contact with drinking water, in accordance with the KTW guideline that is provided by Germany’s renowned environment Agency, UBA. Tests are conducted at the accredited TZW laboratory- an accredited lab that is granted consent to test on behalf the German water and Gas authority (DVGW), and includes two stages: 1. Pre-certification of the raw material according to DVGW Worksheet W270 for enhancement of biological growth, where the material should not contribute to any biological growth 2. Testing of the finished pipes for chemical leaching, odor, and flavor in both, hot and cold water migrations.

These certificates are renewed annually. Random samples of PP-RCT pipes are selected by an inspector on behalf of the lab. Likewise, random samples of HDPE pipes are collected once every 5 years for testing. Consequently, each product line has the KTW certificate independently.

Issued from the German Authority of Gas and Water, this certificate not only combines the requirements of SKZ and KTW for the pipe, but also ponders into the specifics of installation and the safety of the product. This certificate is an official approval from German governmental authorities for the use of API’s PP-RCT pipes and fittings in domestic water installations. It is an attestation that API’s products meet the German codes.

B1 Flame Rating

Materialprüfanstalt (MPA) für das Bauwesen is a certified lab for testing, surveillance, inspection, and certification of building materials and building products. As an accredited and recommended laboratory by the German authorities, APIDrain’s pipes and fittings are tested and certified by this reputable organization for their fire characteristics. Due to the advanced halogen-free flame retardant additives, our APIDrain pipes and fittings are rated B1 according to DIN 4102 -the highest rating a plastic material could attain. This certification drives confidence towards the use of API-Drain system in exposed applications, where polypropylene could not be used before.

NL EN 12201-2.

Apithene HDPE 100 pipes (non peelable, non co-extruded) pipes are certified according to the national standard pertaining to polyethylene pipes. The certification scope spans over API’s quality management system, the suitability of raw materials used for the production of HDPE 100 pipes, the conformance of the produced pipes to the standard, API’s ability to control the quality and conduct the tests that ensure this conformance, in addition for the suitability of both the raw material and finished product for use with drinking water. Libnor remains by law as the sole national certification body accredited to issue compliance certificates to this standard.
